We started our homesteading journey four years ago

We started our homesteading journey four years ago with just a few backyard chickens… and quickly learned about chicken math. 🐓😂

Back then, we lived on 0.60 acres in a suburban cul-de-sac, thinking a small flock would help us save money on eggs. Then came the roosters… imagine what our neighbors must have thought! 🤦‍♀️

We soon realized why they call the first egg “the $4,000 egg” 💸—but every lesson along the way led us to where we are today. Now, we’re on a few peaceful acres, growing our flock for eggs and meat, and even adding goats for milk, cheese, and soap! 🥚🐐✨

This journey has been full of surprises, but we wouldn’t trade it for anything. Follow along as we share more about homesteading, raising livestock, and simple, self-sufficient living at Landers Homestead. 🌿🏡 Read more on our blog, link in bio!
